Consul General Xue Bing Takes Office

Mr. Xue Bing, the new Consul General of the People’s Republic of China arrived in Toronto and assumed his duty on January 28th, 2015. He was met by Deputy Consul General Zhang Chuanbing, Deputy Consul General Xu Wei and representatives from local Chinese communities and media at the Pearson International Airport.

The Consul General made a brief speech at the airport and expressed his gratitude to all who greeted him. He pointed out that relations between China and Canada were gaining new momentum and facing important opportunities. Vibrant cooperation between the consular district and China were blossoming in such wide areas as trade, science and technology, and people to people exchanges. These achievements were attributed to the join efforts by both the Chinese and Canadian government, overseas Chinese and media friends from the two countries

The Consul General emphasized that this year marked the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada, and the 10th anniversary of the set-up of bilateral strategic partnership between the two countries. He was pround to take the portfolio as the tenth Chinese Consul General in Toronto in such an important moment and ready to fulfill his assignment. He undertook that he would spare no efforts to promote the cooperation between China and the consular district to a higher level and the Consulate General would continue to provide quality services to the overseas Chinese, Chinese enterprises and students.

The Consul General also gave interview to the local Chinese media and shared his view on how to deepen the understanding and friendship between the Chinese and Canadian people so as to promote the overall relations between China and Canada.

Mr. Xue once worked in the Department of North American and Oceanian Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, as well as Chinese Embassies in Fiji Islands, New Zealand, Kenya, Australia and Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles. On September 2014, he was appointed the 10th Consul General of China in Toronto.
