Consulate General of the P.R.China donates books to Cheng Yu-Tong Library, University of Toronto

        Consul General Chen Xiaoling donated books to Cheng Yu-Tong Library of the University of Toronto on November 19, 2003. Ms. Carole Moore, Chief Curator of the Library of the University of Toronto, hosted a ceremony for the book donation. Deputy Consul General Mr. Pan Xinchun, Ms. Anna U Curator of Cheng Yu-Tong Library and around 40 scholars, professors and experts joined the ceremony.

Consul General Chen told the ceremony gathering that the purpose of the book donation is to assist the faculty and students of the University of Toronto to further their studies of China and promote Chinese education. She also extended her sincere wishes that Canadian friends could learn more about China's brilliant culture and latest social development and thus enhance the bilateral friendship and understanding between the two peoples.

The books donated on the ceremony are provided by the Ministry of Culture of the People's Republic of China, which has maintained a sound cooperative relationship with the University of Toronto since 1980's and it has donated around 3,000 books together with the Ministry of Education in the past years, greatly benefiting the library of this university.
